Leon Rogers’ parody of celebrities – from Ginuwine and Tina Turner to Allen Iverson and Michael Jordan – makes him one of the most creative and unique talents on the comedy circuit.
He started pursuing comedy in 1996, first approaching the mic at All Jokes Aside Comedy Club in his hometown of Chicago. Four months later he beat out hundreds of other comics to become a finalist in the Miller Genuine Draft Comedy Search. He went on to win the contest in 2001.
From there he began opening for such comedians as Bernie Mac, D.L. Hughley, Steve Harvey and Eddie Griffin. When Leon caught the eye of Cedric The Entertainer, he was invited to perform as a feature act on Cedric’s national comedy tour in 2000, also appearing in the DVD of the tour.
Leon has also been a headliner for the last two years on the RJE Urban Comedy Cabaret Tour, which is the longest running comedy tour catering to colleges and universities in the nation.
Also a budding actor, Leon has appeared in the 1995 HBO movie “The Tuskegee Airmen” with Laurence Fishburne and Cuba Gooding Jr. He was also featured in Ice Cube’s “Barbershop.”
